Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Walker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Taj Gibson! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker shoots in looking for a takedown but Gibson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Gibson throws a counter combo. Walker throws a right hand that misses
and Gibson counters with a stiff right hand. Gibson slips under a jab. Walker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gibson as he avoids it easily. Walker moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Gibson dodges the punch combination from Walker.
Gibson leaves Walker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Gibson is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him. Walker throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gibson counters with a left and a right that stings Walker. Gibson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Walker. Gibson swats away the attempt to clinch by Walker. Gibson throws a one two combo.
Walker is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Gibson tests Walker's chin there with a solid looking shot. Oh Walker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gibson cracks Walker's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Walker slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Gibson can do further damage! This one is done, son!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Taj Gibson! During a confident post fight interview, Taj Gibson thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
