The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

mm gets a takedown into half guard.
Fitzpatrick is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute mm jumps into side control!
Fitzpatrick is looking to regain half guard here but mm keeps moving and retains side control.

mm decides to take the fight back to the feet.

mm thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

mm throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fitzpatrick seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
mm mm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
mm throws a series of punches but Fitzpatrick avoids them all with ease.
Fitzpatrick is looking to counter with a body kick.

Fitzpatrick rushes mm and presses him up against the cage.
mm throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Fitzpatrick blocks it with crossed arms.
Fitzpatrick goes for a takedown attempt but mm pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

mm throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fitzpatrick tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. mm is in Fitzpatrick's guard.

Fitzpatrick can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as mm controls the pace.
mm won't allow Fitzpatrick to get back to his feet.
mm loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

mm sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fitzpatrick's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fitzpatrick enables mm to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fitzpatrick manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

mm slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Fitzpatrick's face as mm controls the position.
Let's hope that mm has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Fitzpatrick is pushing mm's head away, looking to escape. mm manages to hold on to the position though.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

mm pushes Fitzpatrick up against the cage in a clinch.
Fitzpatrick has mm pressed against the cage, preventing mm from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Fitzpatrick is fighting off a takedown attempt but mm is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Fitzpatrick to the mat. Fitzpatrick regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Fitzpatrick had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. mm defends it easily.

mm manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fitzpatrick on his heels. He'll look to pass Fitzpatrick's guard now, I'm sure.

mm has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Fitzpatrick clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

mm is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Fitzpatrick defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Fitzpatrick is fighting to break mm's control of his arms but mm is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well mm has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
