Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Skinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palmer comes to the cage accompanied by GSP - Not Impressed. Santiago Palmer has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Santiago Palmer! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Skinner! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Palmer gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily enabling Skinner to counter with a crisp jab. Palmer tries for a takedown but Skinner circles away easily and Skinner cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Palmer bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Palmer half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Skinner lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Skinner looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Skinner misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Palmer.
We've been hearing reports that Palmer has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Palmer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Skinner moves away. Eric Skinner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Skinner misses with a looping left. Skinner misses with a looping right. Skinner misses with a wild body shot. Skinner connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Palmer moves out of range of the strikes. Skinner falls off balance throwing a combination
and Palmer counters with a shoot takedown. Skinner fights it but they end up in guard. Palmer wants to pass the guard but Skinner is keeping the position. Palmer wants to control from the top but Skinner keeps moving. Skinner bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Palmer's guard. Palmer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. I've been told that Skinner has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game. Skinner throws a big right hand that misses. Skinner stands and steps away. Palmer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Palmer misses with a looping right.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A punch combination from Skinner misses. Skinner throws an overhand right that lands on Palmer's shoulder, as Palmer tries to avoid the shot. Skinner throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Palmer sees it coming and avoids it easily. Skinner throws a shot from downtown. Palmer moves away and avoids it. Palmer appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Palmer has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Skinner lands with an uppercut that bounces Palmer off the cage and back into range. Palmer shoots in for a double leg but Skinner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Palmer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Palmer throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Palmer blocks a jab. Skinner moves out of range as Palmer strikes. Palmer drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Palmer slips under a jab from Skinner. Palmer changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skinner lands a nice looking body shot.
Skinner digs a good body shot into Palmer's ribs. Palmer waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Skinner. It seemed like Skinner was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Sloppy strikes from Skinner. Those never looked like landing. Palmer jabs at Skinner's body. Skinner connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Skinner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Palmer. Palmer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Skinner. Palmer showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Skinner.
Skinner might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Skinner jabbing away but nothing is landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Skinner throws a nice looking combination but Palmer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Skinner scores with a body shot.
Skinner fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Palmer swings for the body but Skinner moves out of range.

A jab from Skinner misses. Skinner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Palmer. Palmer moves out of range of the strikes. Palmer gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Palmer misses with a looping left. A looping hook to the body misses from Palmer. Skinner does a little dance to reset his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eric Skinner dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A telegraphed right hand from Skinner misses the target. Skinner connects with a single shot there. Skinner throws a right and a left that Palmer avoids nicely. Skinner throws a jab when Palmer was well out of range. Skinner lands a body shot.
Skinner drops Palmer with a beautiful combination! Palmer stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Skinner is looking for the KO!
Palmer is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Skinner comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Oh Palmer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Skinner throws an overhand right that drops Palmer like a sack of potatoes! Skinner dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eric Skinner! Eric Skinner is the new welterweight champion! In his post fight interview, Eric Skinner started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. In defeat, Santiago Palmer stepped up to the mic, saying 'Huge props to ya Eric enjoy your moment with the belt! Congrats for the victory!'.
