Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hamish Gaffney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikey Moo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 25 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Hamish Gaffney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikey Moo! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Chris Dean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gaffney manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Gaffney gets caught napping as Moo dives in and scores a takedown. Gaffney manages to retain guard. Moo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gaffney wants to get back to his feet but Moo is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Moo tries to free his leg and advance position but Gaffney is retaining full guard. Moo wants to get up but he can't break Gaffney's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Gaffney avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We've been hearing good reports from Gaffney's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Gaffney tries to land a sweep but no joy. Moo with a flurry of punches that miss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Moo trying to control the position from guard on top but Gaffney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Moo enables Gaffney to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Moo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Gaffney stopping the sweep attempt from Moo. Moo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gaffney lands a couple of decent looking shots. Moo wants to hit a switch here but Gaffney passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Moo there! Moo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Moo wants to control from the top but Gaffney keeps moving. Moo wants to pass the guard but Gaffney is keeping the position. Gaffney is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gaffney's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Gaffney postures up.
Gaffney decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Gaffney defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Moo. Gaffney shoots in for a double leg but Moo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Moo shoots in looking for a takedown but Gaffney manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Moo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Moo has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Gaffney is landing a low percentage of strikes. Moo darts in looking for a takedown but Gaffney gets double underhooks and turns Moo into the cage. Hamish Gaffney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikey Moo. Moo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Moo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Moo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gaffney defends it nicely. Gaffney shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gaffney is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Moo has managed to free his arm - good work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gaffney is looking for a kimura here.
Gaffney thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Moo is pressing down on Gaffney's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Gaffney wants to pass the guard but Moo is keeping the position. Moo is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Gaffney presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moo has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gaffney avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Gaffney manages to break the clinch.
Gaffney shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moo pinned against the cage. Moo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Moo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gaffney paws at him with a jab and circles away. Moo moves into the clinch. Moo takes an elbow to the temple. Moo lands a nice uppercut. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Gaffney prevents the takedown attempt.

Moo is looking to take this one to the mat. Gaffney is trying to break the clinch but Moo has him pressed against the cage. A short right from Moo on the inside. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gaffney misses with a knee to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gaffney misses with the body kick and Moo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Moo gets a clinch. Moo tightens his grip and picks Gaffney up, before dumping him to the ground. Gaffney manages to land in guard. Moo wants to stand but Gaffney is controlling his posture from full guard. Moo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gaffney is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Moo, into his guard. Gaffney engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gaffney throwing strikes but missing. Moo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gaffney is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gaffney's guard.
Moo has gone for a leg lock! Gaffney slips out almost immediately though and dives into Moo's guard. Moo working a defensive guard here.
Gaffney drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gaffney jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Moo keeping moving, preventing Gaffney from controlling successfully. Gaffney lands a couple of elbows. Gaffney advances position into side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gaffney. Moo moves into full guard.

Moo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gaffney's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gaffney's back! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gaffney wants to control his opponent's hands but Moo gets his hands free. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Mikey Moo will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Moo goes for a double leg but Gaffney avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gaffney continues to drive forward. Gaffney stuffs the takedown. Gaffney wants to get back to full guard but Moo has passed into side control. Moo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gaffney knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Gaffney wants to control but Moo postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Moo decides to take the fight back to the feet. Gaffney fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gaffney throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Moo. Gaffney misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Moo doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gaffney counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gaffney. Hamish Gaffney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikey Moo. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Moo is on top in guard.
