PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Monty Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brunos Da Capo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brunos Da Capo will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Monty Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brunos Da Capo!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Da Capo has closed the distance and engaged Dean in a clinch.

Da Capo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dean can't fight it off and eventually Da Capo manages to take the fight to the floor. Dean looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dean looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dean could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Da Capo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dean is proving hard to escape from.
Da Capo trying to control the position from guard on top but Dean is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Da Capo passes Dean's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Da Capo trying to control the pace.
Da Capo trying to control the action but Dean is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Da Capo seems to be looking for submissions.
Dean trying to hold on to Da Capo's head to control him but Da Capo postures up.
Da Capo keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Da Capo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dean's head.
Da Capo wants to get back to his feet.
Da Capo is thwarting Dean's attempts to control the position.
Dean knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Da Capo on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Da Capo is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Da Capo performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Dean is looking to improve his position.

Dean is defending against the submission attempts here by Da Capo.
Da Capo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Da Capo moves nicely into side control.
Dean might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dean is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Da Capo is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dean tries to hold on but Da Capo pushes him away.
Dean keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Da Capo looking for a guillotine from mount but Dean is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Da Capo is looking to work his way around to Dean's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Dean bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Dean wants to stand and escape but instead Da Capo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Da Capo wants to stand but Dean is controlling his posture from full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dean can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Da Capo controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brunos Da Capo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Da Capo misses with a low kick.
Dean throws a counter high kick but Da Capo was just alert enough to avoid it.

Da Capo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Da Capo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Da Capo has hold of Dean's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Dean tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Da Capo cranks the arm and Dean screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Dean, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Brunos Da Capo!
