PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Schmiddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Morrisson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schmiddy kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Devil. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doug Schmiddy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Morrisson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmiddy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Morrisson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Schmiddy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Morrisson's head backwards.

Morrisson takes the fight into the clinch.

Morrisson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Schmiddy's elbow.

Morrisson manages to break the clinch.
Schmiddy fails to land with a series of punches.

Morrisson rushes Schmiddy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Schmiddy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Schmiddy has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Den of Tears (22 coaches, $625 fee) in the buildup to the fight.
Morrisson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Schmiddy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Schmiddy wants to break the clinch but can't.
Morrisson presses Schmiddy against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Schmiddy prevents a takedown attempt there.
Doug Schmiddy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Douglas Morrisson.

Morrisson looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Schmiddy is defending well. Morrisson quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Schmiddy has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Morrisson celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
