Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Herschel Dyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Lopos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Herschel Dyer had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Don Lopos!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lopos forces Dyer back against the cage and clinches.
Lopos prevents Dyer from breaking the clinch.
Dyer tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dyer wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Dyer's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Dyer fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Dyer is trying to pull guard but Lopos has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Herschel Dyer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lopos gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Dyer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lopos controls the pace.
Lopos trying to control but Dyer is working from the bottom.

Dyer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lopos looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Dyer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Dyer has his foot on Lopos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lopos works his way back into a safe position though.
Lopos is working Dyer over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lopos is stalling in the full guard.
Lopos throws a big right hand that misses.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dyer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lopos content to stall in guard here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dyer tries for a takedown but Lopos sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lopos closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lopos lands in his opponent's guard.
Lopos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Lopos gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Lopos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lopos works over Dyer's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Herschel Dyer has been cut.

Lopos throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dyer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lopos is in Dyer's guard.

Dyer is breathing heavily.
Lopos is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Dyer reverses the position - he's now on top in Lopos's guard.

Lopos pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Lopos darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Lopos is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Dyer is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lopos scores with a couple of nice shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dyer has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Lopos escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Lopos!
Dyer takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Lopos is trying to get an arm triangle but Dyer is defending well.
Dyer gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Dyer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lopos stands up and beckons Dyer to join him on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lopos.

Lopos stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Lopos shoots in and gets a takedown into Dyer's guard.
Lopos wants to control from the top but Dyer keeps moving.
Lopos must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dyer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lopos is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lopos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dyer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lopos has managed to get both his arms back between Dyer's legs - danger averted.
Lopos looking to sit in guard and control but Dyer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lopos has his hands on Dyer's head, controlling the position.
Dyer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Lopos wants to sweep here but Dyer controlling him for the moment.
Don Lopos has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lopos is trying to control the position but Dyer postures up.

Lopos had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dyer defends it easily.
Dyer engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Lopos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lopos striking off his back but it's not causing Dyer any problems.

Don Lopos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dyer looks like he's trying to stand up.

Lopos is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Dyer still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Dyer has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dyer with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Dyer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Lopos is doing well to control the position and prevent Dyer from advancing to side control.
Lopos is not content to let Dyer control the position.
Lopos is positioning himself well to prevent Dyer advancing to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dyer is defended easily by Lopos.

Lopos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dyer did well to prevent Lopos getting side control.

Lopos seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Herschel Dyer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Don Lopos is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Lopos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
