Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jill Sander! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boris Yurinov! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sander scores with a nice head shot. Sander lands a body shot.
Yurinov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Yurinov showed some decent athleticism there. Sander makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Sander clobbers Yurinov with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
It looks like Boris Yurinov has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Yurinov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Sander tries to circle away but Yurinov has him pinned against the cage. Yurinov lands a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Yurinov sitting in guard here, content to control. Yurinov's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yurinov trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sander's guard. Yurinov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sander is trying to keep Yurinov in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Yurinov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Sander wants to hit a switch here but Yurinov passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sander there! Yurinov looking to control and managing it successfully. Yurinov lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. That's three minutes gone in the round. Yurinov landing strikes, looking to finish! Yurinov working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Sander turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Yurinov off and cradles Sander's limp body as Yurinov celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Boris Yurinov!
