Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Homer Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Pichushkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Homer Simpson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alexander Pichushkin! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pichushkin motions for Simpson to come forward. Pichushkin throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Simpson tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Pichushkin manages to circle out of the way. Pichushkin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Simpson counters with a nice double leg into guard. Simpson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Simpson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Simpson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Simpson wants to control from the top but Pichushkin keeps moving. Simpson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Simpson pushes down on Pichushkin's leg and manages to get into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Simpson is trying to control the action in half guard but Pichushkin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Pichushkin actively working from the bottom here. Simpson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson wants to pass to mount but Pichushkin is defending the position. Pichushkin is trying to stand back up but Simpson is controlling him

Simpson wants to work for an arm triangle but Pichushkin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pichushkin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simpson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Simpson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Simpson is trying to control the action in half guard but Pichushkin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Simpson is taking a breather. Pichushkin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Pichushkin is looking to escape. Pichushkin is looking for a sweep. Simpson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Simpson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Pichushkin swinging wildly here.
Simpson tries to counter with a takedown but Pichushkin is quick to defend against it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Simpson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pichushkin.
Simpson tries to counter by clinching up but Pichushkin breaks away and moves out of range. A left and a right from Pichushkin both land. Nice combination. Some wild striking there from Pichushkin.
Pichushkin looks to throw the jab but Simpson is out of range. Simpson appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pichushkin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Simpson ducks under a wild hook from Pichushkin. Simpson is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Pichushkin. Pichushkin throws a lazy uppercut
and Simpson counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Simpson has Pichushkin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Simpson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pichushkin tumbling to the mat - Simpson dives into Pichushkin's guard. Simpson advances to half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Simpson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Simpson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Simpson passes to full mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Homer Simpson dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A telegraphed right hand from Pichushkin misses the target. Simpson attempts a counter takedown but Pichushkin avoids it well and moves away. Simpson dodges the punch combination from Pichushkin.

and Simpson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Simpson looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Pichushkin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Simpson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson passes Pichushkin's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Simpson content to control rather than advance. Pichushkin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Simpson is working away from the top position though. Simpson is looking to advance position but Pichushkin won't allow it. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Simpson seems to be looking for submissions.
Simpson seems to be working for a kimura but Pichushkin defends the submission attempt. Simpson works his way into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simpson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Simpson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Pichushkin has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Pichushkin is trying to stand up. Pichushkin is wriggling around trying to escape.
Simpson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Simpson trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Simpson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Simpson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pichushkin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

It looks like Alexander Pichushkin has been cut. Simpson has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Pichushkin is forced to tap!
