Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kiko Pugo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Best! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Steve Erwin and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pugo has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Best finds it's way round the side to connect with Pugo's head. Sloppy strikes from Pugo. Those never looked like landing. Pugo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Best's waist but Best gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pugo off to one side. Best stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Best wants it to stay on the feet. Best looks like he wants to counter punch here. Pugo gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Best. Pugo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kiko Pugo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Best throws a body punch but Pugo moves out of range. Pugo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Nice body kick there by Pugo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pugo shoots in looking for a takedown. Best tries to sprawl out of it but Pugo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Best manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Best misses with a body shot
and Pugo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Best's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Pugo connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Best scrambles back to his feet. Best lands an overhand right. Best catches Pugo with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Best avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kiko Pugo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pugo looks to clinch and Best connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Best connects with a body shot. Pugo is breathing heavily. Pugo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Best drops Pugo with a big left hand! Pugo is injured, injured bad! Best jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
