Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Varona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matsumoto comes to the cage accompanied by Pink Spider. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsumoto shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Varona throws out a counter right but Matsumoto avoids it with no problem.
Nice shot lands for Varona.
Varona drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Varona tries for a kimura but Matsumoto is defending well.
Varona looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Varona has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Matsumoto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matsumoto ducks right into an uppercut from Varona.
Varona moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Varona walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Matsumoto checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Matsumoto drops down looking for a counter takedown but Varona sprawls and moves away.
Varona's jab looks to have found its range, popping Matsumoto under the eye.

Varona connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Matsumoto gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Varona to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Matsumoto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Matsumoto tries to get out of the position.
