Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Joyner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Heartly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Joyner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bob Heartly!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heartly scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Joyner works his way to full guard. Good work.
Heartly works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Joyner trying to hold on to Heartly's head to control him but Heartly postures up.
Joyner is controlling Heartly's trapped leg to prevent Heartly from advancing to side control.
Joyner wants to get back to his feet.
Heartly wants to free his trapped foot but Joyner is holding on for dear life with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joyner is not content to let Heartly control the position.

Heartly thows a huge punch but Joyner dodges it nicely.

Heartly escapes and gets back to his feet.
Joyner plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Joyner fails with a takedown attempt.
Joyner avoids a kick to the body.
Heartly goes for a double leg but Joyner avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Joyner continues to drive forward.
As Heartly looks to move away, Joyner throws a big counter combo bu Heartly just gets out of the way.

Joyner gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Heartly decides to pull guard.

Joyner gets to his feet. Heartly looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Joyner counters with a two punch combo.
Joyner slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Heartly scores with a takedown into Joyner's guard.

Heartly wants to control from the top but Joyner keeps moving.
Heartly is looking to pass into half guard but Joyner pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Joyner is in guard.

Joyner wants to stand but Heartly is controlling his posture from full guard.
Heartly is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Heartly is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Heartly has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Joyner is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Heartly.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Joyner fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Heartly tries to close the distance and clinch up but Joyner swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Heartly closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Heartly slows the pace down.

Heartly stands up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Heartly closes the distance and clinches up with Joyner, looking for a takedown. Heartly pushes Joyner against the cage but Joyner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A close round but Bob Heartly will probably get the nod.

Heartly throws a sloppy head kick and Joyner moves out of range easily.
Heartly just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromJoyner.
Heartly changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Joyner tries to avoid it but Heartly manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Joyner to the ground. Joyner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Joyner tries to keep at a distance but Heartly has taken the fight into the clinch.

Heartly dives in and grabs Joyner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Joyner pushes down on Heartly's head and hops out.

Heartly is breathing heavily.

Joyner throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Heartly tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Joyner is in Heartly's guard.
Heartly is looking to stand back up but Joyner counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Heartly.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Joyner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Heartly, pushing him back against the cage.
Heartly wants a takedown but no success here.

Joyner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Heartly changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Joyner tries to avoid it but Heartly manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Joyner to the ground. Joyner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Heartly throws a push kick but Joyner slaps the foot to one side.
Joyner thinks about countering with a head kick.
Robert Joyner is winning the standup battle so far.
Heartly tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Joyner was well out of range. Poor timing from Heartly.

Joyner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Heartly to the ground. Joyner is now in Heartly's guard.
Joyner postures up in Heartly's guard and throws a big left but Heartly blocks it.

Joyner stands and steps away. Heartly gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Heartly pulls guard effortlessly.

Joyner stands up and waves to Heartly to follow him.
Bob Heartly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Joyner clinches.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Heartly has had enough of the clinch but Joyner keeps him there for the moment.
Joyner is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Joyner tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Heartly is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Joyner gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Joyner dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Joyner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Heartly on his heels. He'll look to pass Heartly's guard now, I'm sure.
Heartly wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Joyner is now in half guard.
Heartly tries to get to full guard but Joyner has control of the leg.
Heartly wants to control but Joyner passes into side.
Joyner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Heartly wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Heartly tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Joyner presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Heartly is working to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heartly takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Heartly wants to control but Joyner is having none of it.

Joyner prevents Heartly from getting the reversal.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Joyner has control of Heartly's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Heartly regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Heartly somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
