Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Callum Hutch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Olav Haakonsson! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haakonsson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Haakonsson moves into the clinch. Hutch tries to land knees in the clinch but Haakonsson avoids the damage to the body. Haakonsson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hutch could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Haakonsson is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Hutch pulls Haakonsson into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Haakonsson controls from within his opponent's guard. Hutch working a defensive guard but Haakonsson manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haakonsson is looking to take a break and control but Hutch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Haakonsson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Haakonsson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hutch is trying to control Haakonsson's posture but Haakonsson avoids it. Haakonsson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hutch, who protects the arm well. Haakonsson wants to control for a moment but Hutch uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haakonsson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hutch is just riding it out for now. Haakonsson eventually gives up the hold. Hutch is staying active underneath Haakonsson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hutch is trying to maintain the position but Haakonsson is very close to passing his half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hutch pushes Haakonsson off, looking to escape but Haakonsson dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Hutch is forced to tap! The fight is over!
