Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Denver Carver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zyryx Balajadia! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Balajadia looks to throw a body kick letting Carver counter with a right hand. Balajadia gets the takedown into side control. Carver explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Balajadia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Carver manages to escape and get back to his feet! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Balajadia scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Carver manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Balajadia keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Carver breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Balajadia drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Carver uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Balajadia looks winded! Balajadia throws a head kick that misses and Carver counters with a nice leg kick. Balajadia has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Carver gets a takedown into half guard. Balajadia wants to stand back up but Carver manages to pass into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carver lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Balajadia down.
Carver decides to stand back up. Carver shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carver showed some decent athleticism there. Carver drops an elbow to the side of Balajadia's head. Balajadia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carver. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Carver stands up from half guard. Carver closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Balajadia quickly recovers to half guard. Carver is nestled in close to Balajadia, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Carver is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Balajadia is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
