Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Terrence Funk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fox Mulder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fox Mulder will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fox Mulder! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Mulder looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mulder moves in looking to clinch but Funk pushes him off. Mulder fails with an attempt to clinch.

Funk showed some decent athleticism there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Funk looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mulder with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mulder can do anything to dispel that myth. Funk winds up and cracks Mulder with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Mulder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Funk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mulder taking some punishment here, with Funk in his half guard. Funk looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Funk is figuring out what he wants to do next. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mulder has hold of Funk's hands but Funk slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Funk takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Funk scoring with strikes but Mulder is staying in there. Funk looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mulder is trying desperately to improve position. Funk with shots to the head and body - Mulder looks very uncomfortable down there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Funk is landing with some decent strikes but Mulder is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Funk is in the full mount, landing strikes. Funk has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Funk lands a big shot there that rocks Mulder but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Mulder in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Funk looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Mulder covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
