Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Workman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damion Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damion Sanchez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josh Workman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Damion Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanchez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Workman, pushing him back against the cage.
Sanchez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Workman wants a takedown but no success here.

Workman has hold of one of Sanchez's legs. Sanchez is fighting the takedown attempt but Workman gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Sanchez wriggles free and stands up.
We've been informed that Sanchez has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
No luck for Sanchez with that takedown attempt.
Workman is looking for a counter combo.
Sanchez goes for a double leg but Workman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Workman continues to drive forward.
Workman misses with a head kick.
Workman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Despite the aggression on Sanchez's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Sanchez gets a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Workman ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Workman no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Workman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Workman striking off his back but it's not causing Sanchez any problems.

Workman throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Workman wants to stand but Sanchez is controlling the position.
Workman throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Workman throwing short punches from the bottom.
Workman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Workman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Workman passes into half guard.
Workman really is a fat lump.

Workman performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Workman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Workman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Workman wants to stand but Sanchez has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Workman is looking for a kimura but Sanchez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Workman to get the leverage.

Workman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Workman decides to return to a standing position.
Workman throws a sloppy head kick and Sanchez moves out of range easily.
Workman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Workman misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sanchez.

Sanchez clinches.
Sanchez looking to stall.

Workman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Workman keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully.
Sanchez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Workman is keeping the position for now.
Workman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Workman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Workman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sanchez defends it well.

Workman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Workman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Workman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Workman forces Sanchez back against the cage and clinches.

Workman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sanchez or perhaps it was just good defense by Workman, which made it look bad.
Sanchez shoots in but Workman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Workman appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Workman gets the takedown into side control.
Sanchez tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Sanchez is breathing heavily.

Workman throwing damaging strikes from the back! Sanchez could be in trouble here!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Workman not allowing Sanchez to control his hands.
Josh Workman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Workman is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Sanchez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Workman looking to break Sanchez's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sanchez remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Workman will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Sanchez is looking to control the hands but Workman breaks free and manages to sink in a rear naked choke that ends the fight!
