The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Barber moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cross misses with a double jab.
Barber tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Cross manages to circle out of the way.

Barber drives through with a takedown into guard.
Barber controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cross really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Barber with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Barber has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cross is pulling down on Barber's head to control his posture.
Cross controls Barber momentarily but Barber frees himself.

Barber is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barber slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Cross is looking to regain half guard here but Barber keeps moving and retains side control.
