PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rustam Khabilov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Coholic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khabilov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Rihanna Bitch Better Have My Money. Al Coholic will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rustam Khabilov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Al Coholic!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khabilov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Coholic works the jab nicely.
Good shot there by Coholic.
Coholic will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Khabilov attempts a counter takedown but Coholic avoids it well and moves away.
Coholic jabs Khabilov right on the nose. Khabilov blinks but takes it well.

Khabilov gets a clinch.
Coholic avoids a wild elbow strike from Khabilov.

Coholic breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Coholic is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coholic's jab looks to have found its range, popping Khabilov under the eye.
Khabilov shoots in looking for a takedown. Coholic tries to sprawl out of it but Khabilov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coholic manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Khabilov scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Khabilov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Coholic is trying to maintain the position but Khabilov is very close to passing his half guard.
Coholic gets back to full guard.
Khabilov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Coholic pulls Khabilov in close to prevent any damage.
Khabilov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Khabilov postures up in Coholic's guard and throws a big left but Coholic blocks it.
Coholic pulls Khabilov in to control the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Khabilov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Coholic working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Khabilov.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Khabilov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Coholic's head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Coholic can do anything to dispel that myth.
Coholic is trying to keep Khabilov in close.
Khabilov trying to control but Coholic is working from the bottom.
Coholic controlling the position.
Khabilov wants to pass the guard but Coholic is keeping the position.
Coholic utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Coholic is pulling down on Khabilov's head to control his posture.
Coholic is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Khabilov is working Coholic over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Khabilov postures up and lands a big shot to Coholic's brow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Khabilov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Coholic has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Khabilov has managed to get both his arms back between Coholic's legs - danger averted.
Coholic pulls Khabilov in close to prevent any damage.
Khabilov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Khabilov wants to control from the top but Coholic keeps moving.
Khabilov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Khabilov trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Khabilov being controlled here momentarily.
Khabilov pushing down on Coholic's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Coholic is trying to stand back up but Khabilov is controlling him
Khabilov lands with a punch from half guard.
Coholic felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Khabilov controlling the action here.
Coholic is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Khabilov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Coholic keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Coholic avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Khabilov.
Coholic tries to roll over but Khabilov keeps him under control.
Khabilov working over Coholic with some ground and pound. Coholic looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Khabilov trying to control the action but Coholic is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Khabilov is thwarting Coholic's attempts to control the position.
Khabilov trying to mount his opponent but Coholic defends it.
Khabilov not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rustam Khabilov will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Coholic throws a right and a left that both miss.
Coholic pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Khabilov back to the cage. Coholic follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Coholic lands a left and a right that send Khabilov crashing to the mat, dazed. Coholic thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Khabilov is rocked!
Coholic goes for a small jab and connects. Now Coholic goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Khabilov stumbles back but Coholic runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Khabilov to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Khabilov will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Al Coholic!
