Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Terry Contreras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Leatherwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terry Contreras! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Keith Leatherwood! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leatherwood closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Contreras is refusing to be controlled, as Leatherwood sits in half guard. Contreras avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Leatherwood. Leatherwood trying to mount his opponent but Contreras defends it. Leatherwood prevents Contreras from standing back up.
Leatherwood thows a huge punch but Contreras dodges it nicely.
Contreras wants to improve his position but Leatherwood is controlling well.
Leatherwood is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Leatherwood in particular looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Contreras is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Leatherwood misses with a combination
and Contreras counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Leatherwood shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Leatherwood showed some decent athleticism there. Leatherwood has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Leatherwood throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Contreras to regain full guard. Contreras keeping moving, preventing Leatherwood from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Contreras can't keep his opponent in guard - Leatherwood advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Contreras pushes Leatherwood off and gets back to his feet. Contreras shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Leatherwood napping and manages to drive through into side control! Leatherwood is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Leatherwood wants to control but Contreras postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leatherwood manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Contreras is controlling Leatherwood's trapped leg to prevent Leatherwood from advancing to side control. Leatherwood is looking to stall here but Contreras recovers full guard. Leatherwood wants to control from the top but Contreras keeps moving. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Leatherwood with a flurry of punches that miss.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Leatherwood has taken the fight to the clinch.
Leatherwood trying to control the position but instead, Contreras has worked for underhooks and has pushed Leatherwood into the cage. Leatherwood is defending well against a takedown attempt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Leatherwood tightens his grip and picks Contreras up, before dumping him to the ground. Contreras manages to land in guard. Leatherwood works a leg free and moves into half guard. Leatherwood wants to pass to mount but Contreras is defending the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Keith Leatherwood will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Leatherwood misses with the body kick and Contreras counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Contreras throws a strike but Leatherwood avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Leatherwood is looking for a triangle but Contreras pushes his legs off easily.
Contreras working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Contreras lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Contreras's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Contreras stopping the sweep attempt from Leatherwood. Leatherwood utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Contreras might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leatherwood preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Contreras could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Contreras throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Leatherwood works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Contreras working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Contreras got a little sloppy there for a moment and Leatherwood has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Contreras has managed to get both his arms back between Leatherwood's legs - danger averted. Contreras throws a big right hand that misses. Leatherwood is looking to sweep but instead, Contreras has passed into half guard.
Contreras lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Contreras lands a nice short elbow. Contreras wants to work for an arm triangle but Leatherwood is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Contreras will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Leatherwood gets the takedown into side control. Leatherwood thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Leatherwood working away. Leatherwood misses with the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leatherwood working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Leatherwood decides to take the fight back to the feet. Leatherwood is breathing heavily. Leatherwood throws a sloppy head kick and Contreras moves out of range easily. Leatherwood has managed to clinch.
Contreras has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Leatherwood clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Leatherwood manages to escape to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leatherwood dives in and scores a takedown into Contreras's guard. Leatherwood passes Contreras's left leg - he's now in half guard. Contreras is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Leatherwood pulls his head out easily. Leatherwood thows a huge punch but Contreras dodges it nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Contreras is refusing to be controlled, as Leatherwood sits in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Keith Leatherwood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Leatherwood gets a double leg takedown into Contreras's guard. Leatherwood trying to control but Contreras is working from the bottom. Leatherwood drops back, looking for a kneebar! Contreras looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Contreras looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Contreras! Leatherwood can't do much from the bottom here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leatherwood tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Contreras wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Both fighters take a look at the clock. Leatherwood manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Contreras working Leatherwood over with strikes. Leatherwood has hold of Contreras's hands but Contreras slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Contreras looks to land a strike but Leatherwood avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Leatherwood looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Contreras gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Contreras keeping moving, preventing Leatherwood from controlling successfully. Leatherwood gets to his feet - Contreras follows without any prompting. Leatherwood throws a series of punches but Contreras avoids them all with ease. Contreras is looking for a counter combo. Leatherwood connects with a body shot that sends Contreras's belly button to the back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leatherwood throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Contreras appears to be looking for a big counter. Keith Leatherwood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Leatherwood takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Leatherwood stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Leatherwood wants it to stay on the feet. Leatherwood drives through with a takedown into Contreras's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Contreras wants to get back to his feet but Leatherwood passes into half guard.
Contreras wants to get back to his feet. Keith Leatherwood has got the better of the ground game so far. Contreras is staying active underneath Leatherwood, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Leatherwood is looking for a kimura but Contreras is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Leatherwood to get the leverage.

Leatherwood wants to pass the guard but Contreras is defending well. Contreras is trying to maintain the position but Leatherwood is very close to passing his half guard. Leatherwood controlling the action here. Leatherwood is looking to advance position but Contreras won't allow it.
And that's the end of the fight! Keith Leatherwood comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Leatherwood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
