Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kareem Valencia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Lake! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lake fails with a takedown attempt. Lake shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Valencia is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lake defends well. Valencia is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lake working some strikes from top position. Valencia pulls Lake in close to prevent any damage. Lake is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valencia wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Valencia keeping full guard, as Lake tries to pass. Lake trying to control but Valencia is working from the bottom. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Lake sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Valencia looks to land a body kick but Lake moved away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Valencia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lake.
Lake throws a nice outside leg kick. Lake drives through with a takedown into Valencia's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Lake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valencia swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lake wanted to stand there but Valencia had control of the position. Valencia really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Lake trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Lake is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Valencia seems keen to control Lake's posture. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valencia keeping moving, preventing Lake from controlling successfully.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lake fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Valencia sprawls well initially but Lake persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Lake trying to control the action but Valencia is working from the bottom. Valencia is pressing down on Lake's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lake is looking to stand up but Valencia won't let him. Lake chips away with some ground and pound. Lake gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Valencia throws the left hand but Lake avoids the punch easily. Lake wants to counter the offense by Valencia and move into the clinch position. Lake shoots in for a takedown but Valencia shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Valencia tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Valencia loads up on a big right hand but Lake slips the punch. Valencia misses with the combination.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Valencia tries to sprawl but Lake drives through with a takedown into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Valencia gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lake to score an easy takedown into full guard. Lake is stalling in the full guard. Lake has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Lake wants to stand but Valencia has a closed guard, so he can't escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lake looking to sit in guard and control but Valencia gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lake throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valencia postures up in Lake's guard and throws a big left but Lake blocks it. Lake manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Valencia manages to get himself to full guard.
Valencia controls Lake momentarily but Lake frees himself.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Lake shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Valencia is trying to defend but Lake finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Lake is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lake is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Valencia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lake wants to control from the top but Valencia keeps moving. Lake showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Lake looking to sit in guard and control but Valencia gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lake working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Valencia. Valencia with a flurry of punches that miss. Lake is trying to control the position but Valencia postures up. Lake is looking to stand up but Valencia isn't so interested in that idea. Valencia throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Valencia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lake tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Valencia defends well and Lake ends up having to push Valencia into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Valencia throws a big counter combination but Lake scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lake fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Valencia, pushing him back against the cage. Lake breaks the clinch.
Lake misses with a head kick.
Lake shoots for a takedown but Valencia saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Peter Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lake is defended easily by Valencia. Kareem Valencia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Lake. Lake is breathing heavily. Lake fails with an attempt to clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Horrible takedown attempt by Lake or perhaps it was just good defense by Valencia, which made it look bad. Lake drives through and clinches with Valencia against the cage.

Peter Lake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Valencia tries to clinch up. Horrible takedown attempt by Lake or perhaps it was just good defense by Valencia, which made it look bad. It looked like Valencia was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Lake misses with an uppercut. Valencia changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Nice sprawl there from Valencia as Lake shoots in. Valencia tries to clinch up but Lake circles away and keeps his distance. Lake tries to clinch up and Valencia counters with a three punch combo that has Lake backing up. Lake nods at Valencia to acknowledge the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sloppy strikes from Valencia. Those never looked like landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lake. Kareem Valencia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Lake. Valencia misses with a head kick.
Lake darts in trying to clinch and Valencia counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Lake slips a jab from Valencia. Valencia moves in looking to clinch but Lake pushes him off. Lake shoots in but Valencia avoids the takedown attempt easily. Valencia misses with a kick to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valencia throws a sloppy head kick and Lake moves out of range easily. Nice takedown defense from Valencia. No joy for Lake on that attempt. Kareem Valencia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lake takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Valencia doesn't manage to clinch there - Lake circles away.
Lake moves into the clinch. Lake jumps guard but Valencia stands there with Lake around his waist. Lake gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lake tries for a takedown but Valencia manages to get underhooks.
Lake changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Valencia fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Valencia wants to control but Lake is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lake is just content to waste time from the top position. Valencia takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Lake trying to control but Valencia is working from the bottom. Lake is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
