PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor MacLeod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Connor MacLeod!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewer swings for the body but MacLeod moves out of range.

Brewer has managed to clinch.

MacLeod gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Brewer regains guard.
Brewer is trying to keep MacLeod in close.
Brewer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
MacLeod with a nice head shot there.
Brewer looking to hit a scissor sweep but MacLeod is one step ahead there.
MacLeod has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brewer misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Brewer leaves MacLeod with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

MacLeod shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than MacLeod was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Brewer bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
MacLeod has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Brewer is landing a low percentage of strikes.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
MacLeod utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
No luck with that takedown attempt from MacLeod.

MacLeod shoots in looking for a takedown but Brewer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing MacLeod's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

MacLeod stands up over Brewer, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Brewer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MacLeod on the ground.
