The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bridges tries to keep at a distance but Roy has taken the fight into the clinch. Bridges jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Roy walks away with a smile on his face. Bridges gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Roy looking to score a takedown here. Bridges is defending well but Roy drives through and ends up in Bridges's guard. Bridges is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Roy presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Bridges really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bridges fails to pull guard.
Bridges jumps guard but Roy stands there with Bridges around his waist. Bridges gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodger Bridges. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roy decides to pull guard. Bridges will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Bridges wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Roy's closed guard. He's half up but Roy has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Roy pivots and extends the arm, Bridges falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Roy! Well done that man!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cowboy Roy!
