Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeremiah Bernales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Velasco Franco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeremiah Bernales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Velasco Franco!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Franco looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Franco is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Franco throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Franco is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bernales doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Franco.
Franco perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Franco wants to work for an arm triangle but Bernales is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bernales tries to roll over but Franco keeps him under control.
Franco uses his free foot to push down on Bernales's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bernales.
Bernales wants to get back to his feet.
Bernales is squirming around, avoiding Franco's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poor strikes thrown by Franco there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Franco sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Bernales wants to hold on but Franco pushes him away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Franco goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bernales is on top in guard.
Bernales postures up in Franco's guard and throws a big left but Franco blocks it.

Franco wants to sweep but no luck.
Bernales controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bernales is looking to stand up but Franco won't let him.
Bernales trying to control the position from guard on top but Franco is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Franco can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bernales controls the pace.
Franco is looking to sweep but instead, Bernales has passed into half guard.
Franco is staying active underneath Bernales, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Bernales trying to control but Franco is working from the bottom.
Bernales controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Franco shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Franco was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bernales gets back to half guard.
Velasco Franco has got the better of the ground game so far.

Franco seems to be looking for submissions.
Bernales pushes Franco off looking to stand but Franco dives back in and keeps control.

Bernales has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Franco escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Franco!
Franco is looking to take a break and control but Bernales is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Franco wants to stand but Bernales has his arm trapped.
Bernales tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bernales is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Franco asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bernales is letting Franco control him for a moment.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bernales manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bernales doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Franco counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Jeremiah Bernales has been cut.

Franco throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bernales tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Franco is in Bernales's guard.
Bernales is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Franco wants to control from the top but Bernales keeps moving.
Bernales tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Franco avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bernales wants to sweep but no luck.
Bernales wants to stand and escape but Franco is having none of it.
Franco looking to sit in guard and control but Bernales gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Franco is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bernales not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's time! Bernales's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Franco dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
No luck for Bernales with that takedown attempt.

Bernales fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Franco sprawls well initially but Bernales persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Franco shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bernales's guard.

Bernales working for a triangle but Franco defends it easily.

Bernales wants to get back to his feet but Franco is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bernales bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Franco's guard.

Franco keeping moving, preventing Bernales from controlling successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Franco leaves Bernales with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Franco counters with a series of strikes. Bernales will be more careful next time no doubt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeremiah Bernales. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Franco scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Franco has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bernales is trying to stand up here but Franco is controlling him well.

Bernales tries to lock up and control but Franco gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Velasco Franco comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Franco has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
