Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Julius Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Coryatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coryatt has chosen Welcome 2 Houston as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Julius Caesar has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Julius Caesar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kevin Coryatt! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coryatt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Caesar was covering up waiting for the punch and Coryatt finishes the takedown easily into guard. Caesar wants to stand but Coryatt is controlling the position. Coryatt stopping the sweep attempt from Caesar. Coryatt slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Coryatt throwing shots but missing, from side control. Caesar managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Coryatt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coryatt goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Caesar has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Coryatt but great work by Caesar. Coryatt is trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Coryatt is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Caesar working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caesar in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Coryatt sneaks back into half guard. Coryatt is trying to maintain the position but Caesar is very close to passing his half guard. Coryatt is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Caesar scores with a couple of nice shots. Caesar wants to control but Coryatt is keeping him busy. We've been hearing good reports from Caesar's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Caesar is thwarting Coryatt's attempts to control the position. Caesar is looking to take a break and control but Coryatt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Coryatt missing with punches from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Caesar thows a huge punch but Coryatt dodges it nicely.
Coryatt tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Caesar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Coryatt scores with a few weak punches. Caesar lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Coryatt is looking to control Caesar's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Coryatt avoid being mounted? Caesar winds up and cracks Coryatt with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Coryatt taking some punishment here, with Caesar in his half guard. Coryatt tries to roll over but Caesar keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Caesar not doing much here.
Caesar slips a nice elbow through Coryatt's hands, connecting with Coryatt's forehead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coryatt has hold of Caesar's hands but Caesar slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Coryatt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Coryatt tries to kick Caesar off but Caesar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Coryatt felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Caesar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Coryatt keeps working. Caesar is nestled in close to Coryatt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Coryatt is rocked! Caesar is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Coryatt is hurt! He's hurt bad - Caesar fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Coryatt from any more punishment! Congratulations to Caesar! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Julius Caesar! As Julius Caesar got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Et tu, Brute?'.
