Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dean Corll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corll comes to the cage accompanied by South Texas Death Ride. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Corll!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Escobar!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Corll misses with a left hand
letting Escobar counter with a right hand.
Corll misses with a body shot.
Corll misses with a shot to the body

and Escobar moves into the clinch.
Escobar has a couple of punches blocked by Corll.
A short uppercut from Corll.
Corll changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Escobar fights it off and pushes away nicely.

We've been hearing reports that Corll has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Corll misses with a hook. Escobar ducked under it nicely.
Escobar lands a jab to the nose.
Corll changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Escobar tries to avoid it but Corll manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Escobar to the ground. Escobar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Escobar throws a series of strikes that have Corll backpedaling.
Escobar takes one to the chin there.
Corll throws a low kick but Escobar moves out of range easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Escobar! But no joy.
Escobar throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Corll appears to be looking for a big counter.

Good leg kick by Escobar there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Escobar's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Escobar duly obliges.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Escobar wants to pass the guard but Corll is keeping the position.
Corll is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Corll is trying to control the position but Escobar postures up.

Escobar wants to counter the offense by Corll and move into the clinch position.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Escobar.
Escobar misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Corll.
Corll tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The crowd cheers as Corll lands an impressive looking overhand right. Escobar doesn't seem phased though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Corll fails to land with a series of punches.
It seemed like Escobar was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Escobar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Escobar connects with a leg kick. Corll looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Escobar has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Corll bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Escobar's head.

As Corll backs off Escobar throws a huge counter combo but Corll manages to avoid it all.

Escobar cracks Corll with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Escobar counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Corll has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Escobar.
Corll fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Escobar has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Escobar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Corll.

Corll shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Escobar napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Pablo Escobar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
