Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rejczel Faris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamal Barnett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rejczel Faris!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnett shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Faris sprawls well. Faris wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barnett gets slowly back to his feet.

Faris shoots in and gets a takedown into Barnett's guard.

Faris thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Faris content to stall in guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Faris wants to control from the top but Barnett keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Faris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barnett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Faris slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Barnett tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Faris wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnett managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Faris.

Faris tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Barnett tries to buck Faris off but Faris is having none of it.
Barnett is trying to work for a sweep but Faris has mounted him!

Faris is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Barnett can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Faris working for a guillotine from mount but Barnett is in no mood to give up.

Barnett is desperately trying to improve his position but Faris has a good base and remains in mount.

Faris has hold of Barnett's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Barnett manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Barnett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Barnett is desperately trying to improve his position but Faris has a good base and remains in mount.
Faris throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Faris looking to ground and pound but Barnett is blocking nicely.
Faris trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Faris has control of Barnett's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Barnett regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Barnett swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Barnett tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Barnett holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Faris tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Faris takes Barnett's back, avoiding a couple of desperation strikes from the bottom.

Barnett is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Faris gets his way!
Barnett is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Faris gets his hands free as Barnett looks to control.

Faris shoots in and gets a takedown into Barnett's guard.

Barnett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Faris gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Faris in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Faris won't allow Barnett to sweep him here.
Faris is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Faris throws a big right hand that misses.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Barnett is on top in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Faris holds on and takes a little breather.
Faris has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Barnett won't allow Faris to get back to his feet.
Faris avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Barnett's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Faris drives through with a takedown into Barnett's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Faris decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Barnett, up you get!

Faris decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Faris tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Barnett is trying to reverse the position but instead Faris has taken his back - oops!

Faris is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Barnett knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Barnett for a finish.

Barnett rolls, trying to escape but Faris keeps control of the position.

Faris is looking to control Barnett but Barnett is wriggling around and keeping busy.
I really don't envy Barnett right now.

Rejczel Faris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Both fighters circling a little - Faris finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Barnett shoots for a double leg takedown but Faris sprawls well. He's pushed Barnett's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Faris drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Barnett defends it well.

Barnett tries to pull guard but Faris forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Barnett is fighting off a takedown attempt but Faris is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Barnett to the mat. Barnett regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Faris stands up and waves to Barnett to follow him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Barnett tries to pull guard but Faris forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Faris has picked Barnett up - he's going for a ride! Faris dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Faris is staying tight to Barnett's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Barnett is not content to let Faris control the position.
Barnett is trying to escape the position but Faris is controlling the position.

Barnett tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Faris easily slips into full mount!

Let's hope that Faris has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Faris takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Barnett looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Rejczel Faris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Faris has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
