Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terry Contreras! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Evrette! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evrette rushes Contreras and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Evrette blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Evrette looking to stall.
Evrette pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Contreras gets in close and instigates a clinch. Evrette pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Contreras throws a head kick that misses. Evrette misses with a body kick. Bruce Evrette seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Evrette throws a hook but Contreras blocks it. Contreras throws a left and a right that both miss
and Evrette counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Evrette decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Contreras really is a fat lump. Evrette looks winded!

Contreras is holding on to half guard well. Evrette is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Contreras is controlling Evrette's trapped leg to prevent Evrette from advancing to side control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Contreras looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Evrette! Contreras is working Evrette over with some ground and pound from side control. Contreras landing strikes. Contreras is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Evrette has escaped the position, nice work there. Contreras cracks Evrette with a big right hand but Evrette just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Contreras lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Contreras moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Contreras decides to take the fight back to the feet. Evrette closes the distance and pushes Contreras back into the cage. Evrette scores with a nice hook to the head. Contreras pulls Evrette into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Evrette trying to control but Contreras is working from the bottom. Contreras pulls Evrette in close to his closed guard and prevents Evrette from doing any damage or advancing position. Contreras has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Contreras manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Contreras gets a takedown into half guard. Evrette pushes Contreras off but Contreras dives into side control.

Contreras shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Evrette manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Contreras wants to stand but Evrette is controlling his posture from full guard. Contreras with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Contreras landing with the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Contreras keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Evrette's head. Contreras is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Evrette can do to turn this around? Evrette is breathing heavily. Contreras postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Evrette has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Contreras is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Evrette.
That's one minute gone in the round. Contreras lands a decent elbow from side control. Evrette on the wrong end of some ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Evrette's face as Contreras controls the position. Contreras working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Contreras landing strikes.

Evrette takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. The referee asks Contreras politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Contreras prefers to stall for the moment though. Evrette tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Contreras presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Evrette in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Contreras controlling from mount. Evrette defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Contreras.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Contreras lands a couple of good shots and Evrette has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Evrette is rocked! Contreras lands a shot to the head. Evrette is still in real trouble! Can Contreras finish him? Contreras tightening his grip on Evrette, looking for the choke. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Contreras has Evrette flattened out and is raining down punches. Contreras throwing damaging strikes from the back! Evrette could be in trouble here!
Contreras controlling the position well here. Evrette rolled but Contreras kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Contreras lands a shot to the body. Contreras is punishing Evrette with strikes - can he finish him?! Contreras cracks Evrette with a big right hand from the back mount! Evrette immediately covers up and the referee dives in to save him under a barrage of more strikes! Contreras takes this one by TKO!
