Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Darmody!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar fails to land with a series of punches.
Darmody stuns Lesnar with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Darmody throws a predictable looking body shot

so Lesnar counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lesnar trying to control the position from guard on top but Darmody is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lesnar throws a big elbow that misses.
Darmody will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lesnar stands up and waves to Darmody to follow him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Darmody ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lesnar moves away.
Lesnar tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Lesnar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Darmody as he jumps to the side.

My spies in The Hut - $50 inform me that Lesnar has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lesnar keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Darmody's head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lesnar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Lesnar postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Darmody is working an open guard so Lesnar takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Darmody will probably get the nod.

Lesnar tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Darmody defends well and Lesnar ends up having to push Darmody into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Lesnar's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Darmody connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lesnar scrambles back to his feet.

Lesnar shoots for a double leg takedown but Darmody sprawls well. He's pushed Lesnar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lesnar lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Darmody down.

Darmody knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lesnar on the ground.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lesnar is working to tighten his grip on Darmody's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Darmody has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Lesnar is really squeezing tight and eventually Darmody passes out! Lesnar breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Alex Lesnar!
Alex Lesnar got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
