The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machina uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vesnev.
Machina smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Machina lands with a kick to the ribs.

Machina attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Machina needs to keep his hands up - Vesnev had a free shot at his head there.

Yury Vesnev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It seemed like Vesnev was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vesnev misses with a takedown attempt - Machina sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Vesnev has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

Vesnev changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Machina tries to avoid it but Vesnev manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Machina to the ground. Machina escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Judge Machina has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yury Vesnev.

Vesnev fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Machina looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Vesnev drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Machina gets the underhooks and prevents it.

I was talking to Machina's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Machina connects with a nasty looking knee right to Vesnev's face.

Machina's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vesnev shoots in but Machina avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Vesnev manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Machina on his heels. He'll look to pass Machina's guard now, I'm sure.

That was a close round but I would say that Judge Machina will probably get the nod.

Vesnev gets through Machina's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Vesnev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Vesnev throws the left hand but Machina avoids the punch easily.
Vesnev swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A thudding body kick lands there by Machina!
Vesnev tries for a takedown but Machina circles away easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Machina feints and then cracks Vesnev's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Vesnev down.
