PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Mcdaniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Trevor Ho was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Patrick Mcdaniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trevor Ho!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ho throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mcdaniel's waist but Mcdaniel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ho off to one side.
Ho throws a sloppy head kick and Mcdaniel moves out of range easily.
Ho shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mcdaniel pinned against the cage. Mcdaniel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ho shoots in but no luck this time.
Patrick Mcdaniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trevor Ho.

Ho gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mcdaniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mcdaniel misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mcdaniel tries to circle away but Ho has him pinned against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ho breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Ho drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mcdaniel has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ho after a bit of a struggle.
Ho is working for takedown but Mcdaniel is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ho lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Patrick Mcdaniel has been cut.
Mcdaniel is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ho takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Mcdaniel is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Ho is defending well for now.
Ho wants to take the fight to the mat but Mcdaniel manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Mcdaniel tries to score a body lock takedown but Ho shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Ho has hold of one of Mcdaniel's legs. Mcdaniel is fighting the takedown attempt but Ho gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Mcdaniel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ho defends well.

Mcdaniel is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ho trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcdaniel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ho throws an elbow that misses. Mcdaniel uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ho's guard. Nice move by Mcdaniel!

Ho has momentary wrist control but Mcdaniel slips an elbow through the middle.
Ho pulls Mcdaniel in to control the position.
Ho controls Mcdaniel momentarily but Mcdaniel frees himself.
Mcdaniel stops Ho from standing up.
Ho wants to sweep here but Mcdaniel controlling him for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ho looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ho is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mcdaniel engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trevor Ho dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Patrick Mcdaniel's cut.
That's time! Mcdaniel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mcdaniel pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Mcdaniel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mcdaniel lands in his opponent's guard.
Ho wants to get back to his feet but Mcdaniel passes into half guard.

Ho is looking for a sweep. Mcdaniel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mcdaniel takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Ho tries to roll over but Mcdaniel keeps him under control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mcdaniel leaves Ho with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mcdaniel appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Ho is breathing heavily.

Ho tries to keep at a distance but Mcdaniel has taken the fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ho can't get the takedown.
Mcdaniel tries to work over Ho's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Mcdaniel has Ho pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ho manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Mcdaniel gets underhooks to prevent Ho's takedown attempt.
Patrick Mcdaniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trevor Ho.

Mcdaniel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ho walks away with a smile on his face. Mcdaniel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ho shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mcdaniel is trying to defend but Ho finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've been informed that Ho has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Mcdaniel is looking for a sweep. Ho is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mcdaniel landing a few short strikes.
Ho is thwarting Mcdaniel's attempts to control the position.

Mcdaniel looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ho is just content to waste time from the top position. Mcdaniel takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Mcdaniel working for a triangle but Ho defends it easily.
Ho must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mcdaniel throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ho escapes and throws Mcdaniel's legs to the side, diving into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Patrick Mcdaniel will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Mcdaniel misses with a wild combination.

Ho darts in and clinches Mcdaniel up against the cage.

Ho drops Mcdaniel with a big knee straight up the middle! Mcdaniel is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

Mcdaniel fails with a takedown attempt.
Oh Mcdaniel is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ho is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Mcdaniel is in big trouble! Ho is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Mcdaniel. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Trevor Ho!
