Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Richard Villars! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Duke Nukem! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nukem connects with an inside leg kick. Villars missing with a left hand there. Nukem was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Nukem throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nukem bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Decent striking displayed by Nukem there. A slow jab from Villars misses its intended target. Nukem slips a jab from Villars. Villars tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nukem thinks about the counter body kick. Nukem scores with a punch to the head. Villars swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nukem throws a head kick that Villars semi-blocks.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Nukem.
Villars is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nukem. Villars throws a hook but Nukem avoids it easily. Nukem wants to slow Villars down by chopping away at his legs. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jab by Villars. Nukem turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Nukem bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Villars is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Villars misses with an uppercut
and Nukem counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Villars forces Nukem back against the cage and clinches. Nukem lands a nice elbow.
It looks like Richard Villars has been cut. Villars creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Villars blocks an elbow strike. Nukem jumps into guard, dragging Villars to the mat.
Villars throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Villars showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Villars is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Nukem has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Villars is looking to defend but Nukem has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Villars! Nukem pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Villars taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Duke Nukem! Our winner, Duke Nukem, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
