Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Frankie Palmeri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sanzhar Nurpulaev!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmeri bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nurpulaev's head.
Nurpulaev takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Nurpulaev drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Palmeri is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nurpulaev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Nurpulaev slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Nurpulaev tries to stand but Palmeri is controlling his head.
Nurpulaev trying to control the position but Palmeri is working away.

Nurpulaev wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Palmeri, who protects the arm well.
Palmeri struggling a bit here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nurpulaev scores with a couple of short elbows.
Palmeri is trying to improve his position.
Palmeri is not content to let Nurpulaev control the position.
Palmeri is looking to reverse the position.
Nurpulaev tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Nurpulaev sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Palmeri is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Palmeri tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nurpulaev wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Nurpulaev trying to control the action but Palmeri is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Palmeri struggling a bit here.
Palmeri holds on to Nurpulaev's head and controls the position momentarily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nurpulaev should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Palmeri dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nurpulaev gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Palmeri counters with a one-two to the body.

Oooh a lovely combination from Palmeri sends Nurpulaev down but not out. Palmeri dives into side control looking to finish.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Palmeri working the ground and pound.


Nurpulaev is rocked!
A big shot lands for Palmeri! That's hurt Nurpulaev! Will he recover? Palmeri fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frankie Palmeri!
