Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Malcom Wheeler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fergal Murphy!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wheeler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Wheeler is trying to work for a kimura but Murphy is defending well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wheeler's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Murphy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wheeler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wheeler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Wheeler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Murphy can do to turn this around?
Wheeler seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Murphy for as long as he can get away with.
Wheeler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Wheeler is stinking the place up with his stalling.

Wheeler is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Wheeler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
