PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Allan Key (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heihachi Mishima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Allan Key!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Heihachi Mishima!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Key shoots in looking for a takedown. Mishima tries to sprawl out of it but Key keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mishima manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mishima tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mishima's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Mishima duly obliges.


It looks like Allan Key has been cut.
Mishima misses with a head kick.
Key fails with the takedown.
Key will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Allan Key. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mishima stuffs the takedown.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mishima.
Key fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mishima looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Mishima tries to clinch but Key is having none of it.
Key changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mishima tries to avoid it but Key manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mishima to the ground. Mishima escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Key looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mishima is fending him off so far but Key persists. Nope, Mishima circles away and we're back to standing.
Key is breathing heavily.
Nice sprawl there from Mishima as Key shoots in.
Mishima throws a left that rocks Key and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Mishima dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Key regain composure!


Key is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mishima slows the pace down.
Oh Key is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Key is looking to reverse the position.
Key seems to have got his legs back now.
Key prevents Mishima from moving into mount.
Mishima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Key keeps working.
Mishima controls the position from side control.
Key is trying to control Mishima's posture but Mishima avoids it.
Mishima wants to control but Key is keeping him busy.
Mishima is staying tight to Key's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Key tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mishima wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mishima steps into range and cracks Key with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Key flops backwards and Mishima dives into his guard looking to finish!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mishima trying to control but Key is working from the bottom.

Key working for a triangle but Mishima defends it easily.
Mishima wants to stand but Key is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mishima missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mishima trying to control the position from guard on top but Key is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mishima controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Key had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mishima is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Key Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mishima's back instead.
Mishima is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Key is persistently looking for the submission but Mishima is defending it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mishima staying busy and making it hard for Key to control.
Mishima can't escape the position.
Mishima is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Key off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Key is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Key working for a choke but Mishima is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Heihachi Mishima dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Allan Key's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Mishima has Key up against the cage in a clinch.
Key has Mishima pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mishima manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Key changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mishima fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mishima dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Key. That did some damage!
Mishima keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Allan Key. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Key changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mishima tries to avoid it but Key manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mishima to the ground. Mishima escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mishima dances in with a quick combination. Key is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Mishima snaps Key's head back. Key stumbles backwards against the cage. Mishima steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Key's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Key just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Heihachi Mishima!
