PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bo Snowflake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raig Si Zhiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bo Snowflake had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bo Snowflake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Raig Si Zhiro!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snowflake swats away the attempt to clinch by Si Zhiro.
Snowflake shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Snowflake counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Snowflake sitting in guard here, content to control.
Snowflake is looking to work some ground and pound but Si Zhiro has wrist control.
Snowflake seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Snowflake seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Si Zhiro for as long as he can get away with.

Si Zhiro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Snowflake controls the pace.

Snowflake drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Si Zhiro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Snowflake has Si Zhiro in his guard.
Snowflake wants to control the position but Si Zhiro says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snowflake avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Si Zhiro.

Snowflake is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Si Zhiro pulls his head out easily.
Snowflake wants to get back to full guard.
Snowflake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Snowflake avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Si Zhiro throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Snowflake misses with a takedown
and Si Zhiro counters with a straight right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bo Snowflake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Si Zhiro tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Si Zhiro slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Si Zhiro scores with a nice strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Raig Si Zhiro will probably get the nod.
That's time! Snowflake's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Snowflake counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Si Zhiro!

Snowflake goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Si Zhiro turns into him and now he's in Snowflake's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Si Zhiro has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Snowflake is proving hard to escape from.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Snowflake looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Si Zhiro passes into side control.
Snowflake is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Si Zhiro tries for a kimura but Snowflake is defending well.
Snowflake is looking for a sweep.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Si Zhiro tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Si Zhiro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Snowflake, who protects the arm well.
Snowflake tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Si Zhiro wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Snowflake tries to control but Si Zhiro manages to take his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Snowflake is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Snowflake is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Si Zhiro pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Si Zhiro is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Snowflake defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Raig Si Zhiro will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Snowflake closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Si Zhiro is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Snowflake pulls his head out easily.
Snowflake wants to lay and pray for a moment but Si Zhiro keeps working.

Snowflake is trying to work for a kimura but Si Zhiro is defending well.
Snowflake is stalling here. Si Zhiro is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Snowflake seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Si Zhiro has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Snowflake tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Snowflake defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Si Zhiro.
Snowflake is wriggling around trying to escape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Si Zhiro thowing shots but they're missing.

Snowflake tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Si Zhiro doesn't have the hooks in and Snowflake manages to turn into his guard.
Snowflake is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Snowflake postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Si Zhiro is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Snowflake, into his guard.

Bo Snowflake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Snowflake working for a triangle but Si Zhiro defends it easily.
Raig Si Zhiro is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Snowflake throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

I would just about give that final round to Raig Si Zhiro.
I've got Si Zhiro winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
