Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mustafa Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Gustin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Gustin.
Gustin has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Khan is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Khan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gustin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Gustin explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
A head kick misses from Gustin.
Gustin moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Khan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gustin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gustin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Khan.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gustin looks to land a right hand but Khan moved out of range.
Gustin doesn't manage to clinch there - Khan circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Gustin. No joy for Khan on that attempt.

I was talking to Khan's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Gustin lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Khan lands a takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Gustin manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gustin wants to stall.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Gustin.
Khan has had enough of the clinch but Gustin keeps him there for the moment.

Khan is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Gustin is keeping busy.
Khan is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Khan can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Gustin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Khan blocks a jab.
Khan was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Khan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Khan fails with the takedown.
Gustin tries to counter with a clinch but Khan shakes him off and moves away.
Khan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gustin circles away.
Gustin tries to bum rush Khan with a series of wild strikes but Khan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gustin throws a sloppy head kick and Khan moves out of range easily.

and Khan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Khan tries to pull guard but Gustin holds him up against the cage and eventually Khan drops back down to his feet.
Khan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gustin fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Khan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Khan misses with a wild body shot.
Khan with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gustin to score with a decent uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gustin throws a head kick but Khan moves out of range.
Khan fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Khan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gustin defends well and Khan ends up having to push Gustin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gustin tries to counter by closing the distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Khan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gustin throws a head kick that misses.
Gustin wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Melvin Gustin dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gustin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gustin is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Khan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gustin tries to avoid it but Khan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gustin to the ground. Gustin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Khan fails in his attempt to clinch.

Khan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Khan throws a strike but Gustin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gustin wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.

Gustin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Khan circles away quickly and effectively.
Khan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gustin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Khan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Khan takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Khan tries for a takedown but Gustin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Gustin lands a glancing blow to the side of Khan's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Khan dives in and scores a takedown into Gustin's guard.

Gustin has his feet on Khan's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Gustin throws a shot from downtown. Khan moves away and avoids it.

Khan tries to clinch but Gustin is having none of it.
Oh Khan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Khan seems to have got his legs back now.
Melvin Gustin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Khan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Gustin misses with a short punch on the inside.

Gustin manages to break the clinch.
Melvin Gustin seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Khan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gustin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Khan drives through with a takedown into Gustin's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Gustin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Khan throws an elbow that misses. Gustin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Khan's guard. Nice move by Gustin!

Gustin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Khan has his foot on Gustin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gustin works his way back into a safe position though.

Gustin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Khan, up you get!

Khan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gustin avoids it really well and circles away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As Khan backs off Gustin throws a huge counter combo but Khan manages to avoid it all.

Melvin Gustin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Gustin circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Khan drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Gustin follows Khan to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
