Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Moreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by micheal jackson beat it. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Moreira!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
James is looking to counter punch.
Moreira lands with a nice body punch.
Peter James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moreira swings and misses with a hook to the body.
James throws a jab but it's blocked by Moreira.
Moreira misses the jab.
James throws a body kick that misses.
A shot to the liver by James. Beautiful body shot.
Moreira has a takedown stuffed.
Moreira misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from James.
James bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Moreira's head.
James misses with a double jab.
Moreira lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Moreira takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.


It looks like Daniel Moreira has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

so Moreira counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
James trying to keep a closed guard but Moreira is proving a slippery customer.

James has his foot on Moreira's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moreira works his way back into a safe position though.
James wants to stand but Moreira is controlling the position.
James is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
James wants to sweep here but Moreira controlling him for the moment.
Moreira postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Moreira is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
James tries to bum rush Moreira with a series of wild strikes but Moreira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Moreira changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
James misses with a two punch combination.
Moreira lands with a cross.
Moreira misses the shot to the body.
James throws a body punch but Moreira moves out of range.
James attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Moreira is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
James takes a swing at Moreira's ribcage but misses.
Moreira throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
James lands with an uppercut that bounces Moreira off the cage and back into range.

Moreira throws a series of punches but James avoids them all with ease.
James cracks Moreira with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Moreira misses with a series of wild punches.
Crunch! James slams his shin into Moreira's torso.
James lands with a straight right. Moreira didn't see that one coming.

Moreira shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Moreira was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Moreira wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
James is trying to control. Moreira wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Moreira makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Moreira.

Moreira manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
James blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
James is looking to break free of the clinch but Moreira has double underhooks.
James throws a head punch that misses.
James misses with a hook to the ribs.

Moreira pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daniel Moreira will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The referee is keeping an eye on Moreira - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
James misses with the head strike.

James is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Moreira gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

James drops down looking for an ankle pick but Moreira pulls his leg out and moves away.

James is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moreira is controlling him.

Moreira shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
James tries to bum rush Moreira with a series of wild strikes but Moreira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Peter James is winning the standup battle so far.
Moreira throws a hook but James blocks it.
Moreira throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
James takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
A combination from Moreira does no damage.
Moreira takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Moreira thuds his right hand into James's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
James throws a right hand that Moreira ducks under and follows up with a left that Moreira also avoids with ease.
James closes the distance and lands a one-two.


Moreira is rocked!
James takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Moreira is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A head kick misses from James.
Moreira seems to have recovered his senses.
Some wild striking there from Moreira.
Moreira looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

It seemed like Moreira was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Moreira moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Moreira on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

And Moreira tries to counter it with a takedown but James pushes his down on his head and steps out.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

James looks to score with a jab to the body but Moreira is just out of range.

James gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Moreira to score an easy takedown into full guard.

James is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Moreira presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Moreira is pushing James up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A clash of legs there as James blocks the low kick.

James seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Moreira steps to the side to avoid the strikes from James.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Peter James.
I think James has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
