4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Singer! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Singer goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Singer leaves Rundowski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Singer misses with a straight left. Singer takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Rundowski cracks Singer with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Singer misses with a body kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rundowski throws a right and a left that both miss. Rundowski shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Singer sprawls well. Singer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rundowski gets slowly back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Singer slips under a jab. Singer lands an overhand right. Rundowski has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grzegorz Rundowski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rundowski cracks Singer with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. That's two minutes gone in the round. Rundowski blocks a low kick nicely. Singer lands with a shot to the body. A nice inside leg kick there by Singer. That's going to slow Rundowski down. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Singer lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Rundowski throws a combination that misses and Singer counters with a nice body shot. Rundowski looks to score with a jab to the body but Singer is just out of range. Singer throws a lazy body kick and Rundowski counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rundowski. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rundowski's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Rundowski postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Singer trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Singer has his foot on Rundowski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rundowski works his way back into a safe position though. Rundowski postures up in Singer's guard and throws a big left but Singer blocks it. Rundowski content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Rundowski controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Rundowski scoring with punches to the head and body. Singer trying to keep a closed guard but Rundowski is proving a slippery customer.
Singer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rundowski doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rundowski manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rundowski content to stall in guard here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rundowski content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Rundowski working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Rundowski stands up over Singer, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Rundowski not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Singer throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rundowski sitting in guard, not really doing much. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Grzegorz Rundowski dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Singer throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Rundowski throws a jab when Singer was well out of range. A decent looking body kick lands there for Singer. Singer slips a jab from Rundowski. Singer flicks out a counter leg kick but Rundowski steps away. A low kick from Singer misses and Rundowski counters with a left and a right that stings Singer. Singer misses with a leg kick and Rundowski counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rundowski. Singer has his foot on Rundowski's thigh. Our spies down at at Soul Supremacy Rio inform us that Singer has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Singer looking for subs off his back but Rundowski has passed one foot through into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Singer trying to control but Rundowski postures up.
Rundowski looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Singer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Rundowski controlling the action here. Singer tries to roll over but Rundowski keeps him under control. Rundowski takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rundowski is nestled in close to Singer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. It looks like Robert Singer has been cut. Singer wants to control the action here but instead Rundowski manages to pass to full mount! Singer is still in real trouble! Can Rundowski finish him? Oooooh, big shot lands for Rundowski! Singer is hurt baaadly! Rundowski is firing away with more strikes - Singer is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Grzegorz Rundowski! In his post fight interview, Grzegorz Rundowski started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
