Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Liam Christopher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benny Breese! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Christopher lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Breese fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Christopher to the ground. Breese is now in Christopher's guard. Christopher is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Breese presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Breese has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Christopher uses from the top position. Breese being controlled here, momentarily. This has been an exciting period of action! Christopher has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Christopher wants to control from the top but Breese keeps moving. That's one minute gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Breese can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Christopher throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Breese. Breese goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Christopher closes this distance looking for a takedown but Breese circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Breese is defended easily by Christopher. Breese misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Benny Breese seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Christopher takes a swing at Breese's ribcage but misses. Breese drives through and clinches with Christopher against the cage.
Christopher drops down looking for an ankle pick but Breese pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Breese gets control of Christopher's arms and successfully pulls guard. Breese will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Breese being controlled here, momentarily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Breese wants to get back to his feet but Christopher is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Breese has his foot on Christopher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Christopher works his way back into a safe position though. Christopher trying to control but Breese is working from the bottom. Breese looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Breese working a defensive guard here.

Breese wants to stand and escape but Christopher is having none of it. Christopher is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Liam Christopher will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Breese takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Christopher throws a right and a left that both miss. Breese moves into range and clinches up with Christopher. Breese jumps guard and drags Christopher to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Christopher prevents Breese from getting back to his feet. Christopher trying to control the position from guard on top but Breese is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Breese has Christopher pulled in close to control his posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Christopher slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Breese changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Christopher tries to avoid it but Breese manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Christopher to the ground. Christopher escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Christopher is looking to counter punch. Breese instigates a clinch. Breese breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Breese doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Christopher. Christopher gets tackled into the cage by Breese. Breese maintains the clinch.

A frustrated look appears on Christopher's face as he tries to break the clinch. Christopher tries to break free but Breese pushes him back against the cage. Breese works on Christopher's body with a couple of short punches. Christopher has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Breese avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Breese is trying to trip Christopher. He has hold of a leg but Christopher is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Breese persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Christopher wants to sweep but no luck. Breese trying to control the position from guard on top but Christopher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Breese drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Christopher manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Breese has Christopher in his guard. Christopher controlling from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Christopher looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Breese working for a triangle but Christopher defends it easily.
Breese controls Christopher momentarily but Christopher frees himself. Christopher stands up from Breese's guard - Christopher perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Christopher looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Breese drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Christopher defends it well. Christopher looks to score with a jab to the body but Breese is just out of range. Christopher digs a good body shot into Breese's ribs. Breese fails with a takedown attempt. Christopher went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Breese is breathing heavily. Breese takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Breese shoots in for a takedown but Christopher shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Christopher cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Breese throws out a loose jab but Christopher uses good head movement to avoid it. Christopher throwing a counter right hand but Breese manages to avoid it. Christopher misses with the combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Breese has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Christopher tries to close the distance and clinch but Breese swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Breese moves into range and clinches up with Christopher. Christopher tries to break the clinch but Breese is controlling the position. Christopher misses with some punches.

Breese shoots in looking for a takedown but Christopher manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Breese's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Breese takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Christopher uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Breese.

Christopher controlling the position from side mount. Breese is trying to control Christopher's posture but Christopher avoids it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Benny Breese has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Liam Christopher is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Breese tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Christopher wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Liam Christopher showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Christopher, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
