The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tama throws a head kick that misses and Binay decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tama's guard. Tama wants to stand but Binay is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Binay wants to pass the guard but Tama is keeping the position. Tama is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Binay is controlling him. Binay working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Binay drops back for a leg! That's one minute gone in the round. Binay sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tama's guard. Binay is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tama defends it well. Binay is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tama is just riding it out for now. Binay eventually gives up the hold. Binay tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tama knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Binay has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Tama defend it? Binay steps over the head and cranks it - Tama is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Binay!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rudy Mar Binay! After the fight, Rudy Mar Binay was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
