Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kalle Kivipelto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Snead! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kivipelto shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kivipelto was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Kivipelto working the head and body with strikes. Kivipelto throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Snead is looking for a sweep. Kivipelto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Snead dodges the ground and pound from Kivipelto. Kivipelto landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Kivipelto throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Snead tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kivipelto tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Kivipelto looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Snead is avoiding damage well.

Kivipelto scoring with punches and elbows. Kivipelto creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Snead sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Kivipelto tries to score with some ground and pound. Snead controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kivipelto wants to control but Snead is keeping him busy. Snead gets back to half guard. Kivipelto throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Kivipelto throwing shots but Snead is blocking nicely. Snead wants to improve his position but Kivipelto is controlling well.

Snead blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kivipelto. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kivipelto lands a nice short elbow. Kivipelto looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Kivipelto missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Kivipelto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Snead keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kivipelto is nestled in close to Snead, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Snead is staying active underneath Kivipelto, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kivipelto looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Snead with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Kivipelto missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Snead looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kivipelto landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Ground and pound from Kivipelto. We've been hearing good reports from Kivipelto's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Kivipelto slips a nice elbow through Snead's hands, connecting with Snead's forehead. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kivipelto wants to advance to full mount but Snead doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Kivipelto wants to control from the top but Snead keeps moving. Snead tries to land a sweep but no joy.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kivipelto accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kivipelto works over Snead with some ground and pound from guard. Kivipelto is stalling in the full guard. Snead pulls Kivipelto in close to his closed guard and prevents Kivipelto from doing any damage or advancing position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kalle Kivipelto dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Snead tries a head kick but it misses.
Snead just misses with a punch to the body.
Kivipelto scores with a sloppy right hand. Snead should have avoided that one. Kivipelto on the wrong end of a nice hook. Kivipelto uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Snead has time to react. No joy there for Snead, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kivipelto takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kivipelto dips to his left and cracks Snead with an uppercut! Kivipelto shoots in looking for a takedown but Snead manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kivipelto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kivipelto avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kivipelto closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kivipelto lands in his opponent's guard. Kivipelto is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Snead can do to turn this around? This has been an exciting period of action! Snead utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Snead is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kivipelto throwing strikes but missing. Kivipelto postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kivipelto is looking to work some ground and pound but Snead has wrist control. Kivipelto stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Snead throws up his legs and catches Kivipelto in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Kivipelto tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Snead! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Sam Snead! Sam Snead gave a mention to Humanoid Nutrition (160Q for 200$) in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
