Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alonso Mckee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tj Dos Anjos! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mckee uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dos Anjos.
Dos Anjos dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Mckee wants to clinch up but Dos Anjos keeps it at a distance. Dos Anjos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Dos Anjos trying to move into half guard but instead Mckee has managed to sweep! Mckee throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dos Anjos works some decent striking defense from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mckee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Dos Anjos wants to get back to his feet but Mckee is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mckee has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dos Anjos is proving hard to escape from. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mckee is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dos Anjos is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dos Anjos has escaped and now he's on top! Dos Anjos pushes down on Mckee's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dos Anjos decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Dos Anjos lands with a nice combination. Mckee backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Alonso Mckee has been cut. Dos Anjos cracks Mckee with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Dos Anjos rushes Mckee and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Dos Anjos is pushing Mckee up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dos Anjos holding his opponent close, against the cage.
The crowd are getting on Dos Anjos's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch. Mckee could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Mckee jumps into guard, dragging Dos Anjos to the mat.
Dos Anjos throws a big elbow that misses. Dos Anjos gets to his feet - Mckee follows without any prompting. Dos Anjos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Dos Anjos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dos Anjos has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dos Anjos drives through with a takedown into guard. Mckee utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Dos Anjos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mckee tries to land a sweep but no joy. Dos Anjos postures up in Mckee's guard and throws a big left but Mckee blocks it. That's four minutes gone in the round. Dos Anjos won't allow Mckee to sweep him here. Dos Anjos trying to control but Mckee is working from the bottom. Dos Anjos trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mckee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dos Anjos is one step ahead there. Dos Anjos throwing strikes but missing. Dos Anjos wants to control from the top but Mckee keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tj Dos Anjos dominated that round. The cut man is working on Alonso Mckee's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Tj Dos Anjos has got the better of the ground game so far. Dos Anjos cracks Mckee with a big right hand but Mckee just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dos Anjos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Dos Anjos trying to control the action but Mckee is working from the bottom. Dos Anjos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mckee knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dos Anjos decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mckee to his feet. Dos Anjos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dos Anjos misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dos Anjos decides to take the fight back to the feet. Dos Anjos connects with a crisp jab. Dos Anjos looking to score a takedown here. Mckee is defending well but Dos Anjos drives through and ends up in Mckee's guard. Dos Anjos trying to control but Mckee is working from the bottom. Mckee wants to stand but Dos Anjos is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mckee is controlling Dos Anjos's posture. Mckee is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Dos Anjos has his hands clasped together but Mckee extends and breaks Dos Anjos's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Mckee.
