Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Terry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Affion!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Terry bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Affion's head backwards.
Affion tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Terry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jab, jab by Terry - just one landing.
Terry keeps the fight on the outside.
Terry tries to counter by clinching up but Affion breaks away and moves out of range.
Affion avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Affion shoots and misses
and Terry makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Affion takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Affion tries to close the distance and clinch up but Terry swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Affion with a poor takedown
and Affion takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Terry with a jab.
Terry is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Terry cracks Affion with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Terry works Affion's body with a nice hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Affion moves in looking to clinch but Terry pushes him off.
Terry appears to be looking for a big counter.
Affion fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
John Terry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Affion.
Terry lands a jab-cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Terry blocks a head kick by Affion.
Terry forces Affion back against the cage and clinches.
Affion gets control of Terry's arms and successfully pulls guard. Affion will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Terry is looking to stand up but Affion won't let him.
Affion wants to sweep but no luck.
Terry would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Affion manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Terry manages to get himself to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Affion drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Affion jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Affion looks winded!
Affion decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Terry, up you get!
John Terry is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Affion fails with the takedown
enabling Terry to counter with a crisp jab.
A cross from Terry lands.
Terry connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
A jab from Terry does it's job there.
Terry scores with a jab.
Affion is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Terry is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Affion flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Affion is out cold! Terry holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Terry!
