Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marv Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Uppertaker! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Uppertaker.
Uppertaker throws a body shot but no joy. A big right from Uppertaker misses. Uppertaker takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Miller shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Uppertaker manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Miller tries to free his leg and advance position but Uppertaker is retaining full guard. Uppertaker is striking from the bottom but Miller uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Miller not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Miller working the head and body with strikes. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Uppertaker can do anything to dispel that myth. Miller is looking to advance position but Uppertaker won't allow it. Miller takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Miller throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's one minute gone in the round. Uppertaker taking some punishment here, with Miller in his half guard. Miller throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Miller wants to take a breather but Uppertaker is having none of it. Miller blocks the strikes from Uppertaker.
Miller looks to land a strike but Uppertaker avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Miller working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Miller has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Miller working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Uppertaker looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Miller cracks Uppertaker with a solid left hand. Miller trying to control but Uppertaker is working from the bottom. Miller is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Uppertaker tries to strike from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller is looking to advance position but Uppertaker has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Miller is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Uppertaker working the ground and pound effectively.
Uppertaker dominating with strikes here. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Uppertaker dominating with strikes here. Miller is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Uppertaker lands a big elbow. Miller is squirming around, avoiding Uppertaker's attempts to control the action. Uppertaker in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Uppertaker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Miller is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Uppertaker working the ground and pound effectively.
Uppertaker wants to control the pace but Miller is squirming around nicely. Uppertaker scoring with strikes but Miller is staying in there. Uppertaker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Uppertaker is landing with some decent strikes but Miller is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. A nice elbow there by Uppertaker.
Miller is rocked! Miller is in a horrible position here. Uppertaker smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Oh Miller is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Miller takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Uppertaker's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Uppertaker! A relieved looking The Uppertaker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
