Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Trent Punchy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ceoghan Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cartwright is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Disciples of Power - Born Unto Death. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trent Punchy! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ceoghan Cartwright! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Punchy lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Punchy takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cartwright throws a good cross that connects.

and Punchy counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Cartwright!
Cartwright is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cartwright is trying to get back to full guard. Cartwright is still in real trouble! Can Punchy finish him? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cartwright on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Cartwright is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cartwright looking for submissions off his back. Cartwright gets full guard. Cartwright seems to have recovered his senses. Cartwright is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Punchy defends well. Punchy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Punchy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cartwright works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Punchy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cartwright has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Punchy has managed to get both his arms back between Cartwright's legs - danger averted. Punchy is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Cartwright is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Punchy works over Cartwright with some ground and pound from guard. Punchy distracts Cartwright with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Punchy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cartwright's head. Punchy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cartwright is keeping the position for now. Cartwright working for a triangle but Punchy defends it easily.
Punchy trying to control the position from guard on top but Cartwright is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Punchy lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Cartwright is looking for a triangle but Punchy pushes his legs off easily.
Cartwright escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Punchy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Punchy postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Cartwright is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Punchy wants to control from the top but Cartwright keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Punchy lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Cartwright looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Punchy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cartwright's head. Punchy landing some decent shots from guard. Punchy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Punchy keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cartwright's head. Punchy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cartwright's guard. Punchy looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Punchy lands strikes from half guard. Cartwright gets back to full guard.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Punchy gets to his feet and stands over Cartwright, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Cartwright felt that one! Punchy unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Cartwright from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trent Punchy! Trent Punchy retains his middleweight title! Our winner, Trent Punchy, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
