Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Myers Hockles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ferdinand Cortes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 1, fighting out of New York, Myers Hockles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Ferdinand Cortes!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hockles throws a jab but it's blocked by Cortes.
Cortes only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Cortes blocks a jab.

Hockles drives through with a takedown into Cortes's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Cortes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hockles throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cortes keeping moving, preventing Hockles from controlling successfully.
Hockles missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cortes pulls Hockles in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cortes can't keep his opponent in guard - Hockles advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Hockles wants to free his trapped foot but Cortes is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hockles has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hockles throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Cortes to regain full guard.

Hockles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cortes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

and Cortes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hockles swings for the body but Cortes moves out of range.

Ferdinand Cortes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cortes moves in looking to clinch but Hockles pushes him off.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Cortes checks a leg kick.
Hockles misses with a two punch combination.
Cortes scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Hockles moves out of range as Cortes throws a body kick.
Cortes moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Cortes looks to score with a jab to the body but Hockles is just out of range.
Hockles doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Cortes catches Hockles with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
The fighters circle momentarily. Cortes darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Cortes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hockles manages to avoid it.
Cortes chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Hockles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hockles closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cortes circles away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cortes lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hockles.
Cortes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cortes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cortes wants it to stay on the feet.
Hockles throws a wild body kick that Cortes sees coming a mile off.
Hockles misses with a hook to the body
and Cortes counters with a straight right hand.
We've been informed that Cortes has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Cortes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cortes thumps Hockles with a low kick.
Hockles fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Cortes throws a predictable looking body shot
and Hockles counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Cortes is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Cortes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hockles to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hockles sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Cortes is looking to stand up but Hockles isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ferdinand Cortes will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

letting Cortes counter with a right hand.
Nice sprawl there from Cortes as Hockles shoots in.
Hockles moves away from the strike by Cortes.
Hockles throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Cortes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hockles misses with a takedown
letting Cortes counter with a right hand.
Hockles slips a jab and a cross from Cortes.
Cortes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hockles can pounce on him.
Hockles takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Ferdinand Cortes seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Cortes drops Hockles with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hockles looks back up at him and smiles so Cortes waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Hockles is rocked!


It looks like Myers Hockles has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cortes scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Oh Hockles is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cortes throws a quick inside leg kick.
Hockles seems to have got his legs back now.
Hockles shoots and misses
and Cortes counters with a one-two to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Myers Hockles. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hockles misses with an attempted mid kick.
Cortes lands with a shot to the body.
Myers Hockles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cortes lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Hockles with a poor takedown
and Cortes counters with a left to the body.
Cortes connects with an inside leg kick.
Cortes stuns Hockles with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cortes lands with a shot to the body.
Cortes scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Cortes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cortes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hockles manages to avoid it.

Myers Hockles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Cortes throws a front kick that sends Hockles stumbling back into the cage.
Hockles throws a head kick but Cortes moves out of range.

Cortes lands a really nice looking cross but Hockles seems unphased.
Cortes fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hockles has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Cortes lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Cortes feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Hockles sprawling to the canvas! Hockles rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Cortes finish him?!

and Cortes counters with a big right hand! Oh Hockles is in trouble here! Cortes follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ferdinand Cortes!
Ferdinand Cortes tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
