The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smyth lands with a straight right. Tso didn't see that one coming.
Smyth sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Tso keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Smyth.
Smyth fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tso manages to avoid it.
Nice defenses there by Tso.
Smyth shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Tso throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
The fighters circling - Smyth throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
As Smyth tries to get set, Tso tries to push him back and clinch up but Smyth manages to avoid the attempt.
Smyth throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Tso has managed to clinch.
Smyth wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tso has him pressed against the cage.
Smyth tries for a takedown. No joy.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Smyth has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Smyth is trying to break the clinch but Tso is controlling him.
Smyth has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Tso after a bit of a struggle.
Tso lands a body shot.

Smyth is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Tso screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
