Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dom Diego (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arvo Laar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laar is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by some random 90's estonia dance song i found on youtube. Dom Diego has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dom Diego! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arvo Laar! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diego dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Diego on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Laar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diego moves away. Diego lands a really nice looking cross but Laar seems unphased.

Laar tries a quick counter leg kick but Diego is wise to it. Diego moves out of range of the leg kick from Laar. Diego misses with a hook. Laar ducked under it nicely. Jab by Diego. Diego fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Laar looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Laar looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Laar ducks under a wild hook from Diego. Laar feints and then cracks Diego's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Diego down. Good leg kick by Laar there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
We've been hearing reports that Diego has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Diego lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Laar fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Diego loads up on a big right hand but Laar slips the punch. Laar unleashes a big counter combination but Diego bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Diego tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Laar swivels and escapes. Diego missing with a left hand there. Laar was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Arvo Laar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Laar throws a nice outside leg kick. Laar throws a quick inside leg kick.

Laar thumps Diego with a low kick. Diego tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Diego tries for a takedown but Laar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Laar will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Diego thuds a left hand into Laar's body. Laar keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Diego. Laar dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Diego. That did some damage! Diego lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Laar at a distance.
Diego is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. A clash of legs there as Diego blocks the low kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Diego. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dom Diego. That's going to take a lot out of him. Laar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Laar ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Laar does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Laar throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
It looks like Dom Diego has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diego throws an overhand right that lands on Laar's shoulder, as Laar tries to avoid the shot. Laar takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Diego getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Laar throws a quick inside leg kick. Diego stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Laar. Diego with a nice cross. Laar misses with a body shot.
Diego attempts a counter takedown but Laar avoids it well and moves away. A big right from Diego misses. A looping hook to the body misses from Laar. Diego does a little dance to reset his feet. Diego keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

A nice leg kick lands there from Laar. An inside leg kick from Laar misses. Laar is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Laar tries a low kick but Diego avoids it. Diego misses the shot to the body. Laar uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Diego. Laar throws a low kick but it's checked well by Diego. A nice leg kick lands there from Laar. Diego throws a right hand that misses

Laar fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Diego has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Diego checks a leg kick. Diego with a nice cross. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Diego misses with a looping left. Laar moves out of range of the strikes. Diego is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Laar throws a leg kick and Diego connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Laar will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Laar is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Diego rather than just go for the knockout. Laar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Laar's guard. Laar preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Laar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Laar wants to sweep but no luck. Laar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Diego is controlling him. Diego will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Diego postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Diego defends it easily. Diego connects with a couple of short punches. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laar wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Diego manages to pass to side control. Diego stops Laar from getting back to his feet.
Laar tries to roll over but Diego keeps him under control. Nice strikes from Diego there. Diego wants to pass the guard but Laar is defending well. Diego working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Diego prevents Laar from standing back up.
Laar is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Diego pulls his head out easily. Laar pushes Diego off looking to stand but Diego dives back in and keeps control.

Diego wants to take a breather but Laar is having none of it. Diego trying to pass the guard but Laar defending well. Diego's legs have taken a beating and he's really slowing down as a result. Diego is trying to control the action in half guard but Laar is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Diego throws a right hand that Laar ducks under and follows up with a left that Laar also avoids with ease. Diego swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Laar throws a head kick but Diego moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diego rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Laar moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A big right from Diego misses. Diego throws a big shot that misses. Laar feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Diego's calf. Laar throws a quick inside leg kick. Diego throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. An inside leg kick from Laar misses. Laar misses with a head kick.
Diego appears to be looking for a big counter. Laar throws a low kick but it's checked well by Diego. Laar gets caught flat footed, as Diego shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Diego advances position into side control! Laar gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Laar pushes Diego off looking to stand but Diego dives back in and keeps control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diego wants to take a breather but Laar is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Laar is looking to improve his position.
Diego slips a nice elbow through Laar's hands, connecting with Laar's forehead. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diego landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Laar pushes Diego off looking to stand but Diego dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Laar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Diego scores with a couple of nice shots. Laar has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Diego takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Laar was covering up waiting for the punch and Diego finishes the takedown easily into guard. Laar keeping moving, preventing Diego from controlling successfully. Diego trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Diego is working hard here to advance position. Laar is looking for a triangle but Diego pushes his legs off easily.

Diego looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Laar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Laar is looking for a sweep. Diego is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Laar is trying to stand back up but Diego is controlling him
