Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Perry Beach! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Smith! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Beach throws Smith to one side and escapes! Smith looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Beach! Beach explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Beach shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Despite the aggression on Smith's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Beach fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard. Beach pushes Smith off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beach blocks a head kick by Smith.
Smith misses with a looping right. Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Beach looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Beach regains half guard there - taking advantage of Smith's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Beach is trying to stand back up but Smith is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Beach uses the opportunity to regain full guard. Beach pushes a forearm under Smith's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Smith is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
