Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Madison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Everything in its right place. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, James Penn! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Madison! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed right hand from Madison misses the target. Penn scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Madison doesn't seem bothered though. A jab from Penn finds it's way through Madison's defenses. Madison misses with a right hand and Penn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Madison misses with a left hand and Penn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Penn tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn lands a two punch combo.
A jab from Penn misses. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Madison! But no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madison throws an off balance right hand
letting Penn counter with a right hand. Madison ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Penn throws a head kick that misses. Madison scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Madison connects with a good right hand that stumbles Penn. Penn circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Madison misses with an uppercut. Penn saw that one coming. A little feinted left hand from Penn on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. An inside leg kick lands from Penn. Madison connects with a body shot that sends Penn's belly button to the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Good leg kick by Madison there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Madison throws a hook to the side of Penn's head but Penn sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Penn seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Madison misses the jab. Madison throws a left and a right that both miss
and Penn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A slow jab from Penn misses its intended target. Penn drops his hands momentarily and Madison takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Madison slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Penn doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Madison throws a body shot but no joy. It looked like Penn was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Madison throws a shot to the body.
Madison thuds a left hand into Penn's body. Penn looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Madison throws a lazy uppercut
and Penn counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Madison lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
It looks like James Penn has been cut. Greg Madison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Madison connects with an inside leg kick. Madison looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Madison fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Penn looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Madison avoids the head kick by Penn.
Madison throws a hook but Penn blocks it. Madison misses with a looping right. Madison throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Penn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Penn has taken the fight to the clinch.
Madison breaks the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Greg Madison will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on James Penn's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Penn takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Madison tries to sprawl but Penn drives through with a takedown into half guard. Penn stops Madison from getting back to his feet.
Penn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Madison defends it well. Penn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Madison doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Penn. Madison wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Penn is taking a breather. Madison says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Penn looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Penn wants to work for an arm triangle but Madison is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've been informed that Madison has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Madison is trying to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Penn is working for a kimura but Madison is defending it quite comfortably.
Penn stops Madison from getting back to his feet.
Madison works his way to full guard. Good work. Penn looking to pass the guard. Madison wants to stand and escape but Penn is having none of it. Penn trying to control but Madison is working from the bottom. Madison wants to get back to his feet but Penn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

and Penn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A telegraphed right hand from Madison misses the target. A little feinted left hand from Penn on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Madison takes a swing at Penn's ribcage but misses. Penn appears to be looking for a big counter. Madison misses with a hook to the body
and Madison takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Nice jab there from Madison. Madison smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Madison throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Penn sees it coming and avoids it easily. A little feinted left hand from Penn on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Madison misses with an uppercut. Penn appears to be looking for a big counter. Madison tries a low kick but Penn avoids it. Penn takes one on the button. Greg Madison is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Penn shoots in for a takedown but Madison shows good takedown defense. Madison misses with a hook. Penn is looking to counter punch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A looping hook to the body misses from Madison. Penn does a little dance to reset his feet. Penn appears to be looking for a big counter. Penn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Greg Madison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on James Penn's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Madison looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Sloppy strikes from Penn. Those never looked like landing. Madison lands with a nice body punch. Madison lands a big head kick that sends Penn tumbling to the mat! Madison takes a step backwards and waves Penn back to his feet - he wants the finish! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Madison drops Penn with a straight right hand, right on the button! Madison follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Greg Madison! Greg Madison is the new welterweight champion!
